The Iberian lynx

Biologic and Genetic Resource Bank

Preserving a Maximum of its Genetic Biodiversity

One of the priority species for being so seriously threatened.

We have preserved THOUSANDS OF ALIVE SAMPLES from HUNDREDS OF INDIVIDUALS (many of them already dead) from the world's most endangered felid,

THE IBERIAN LYNX

In order to dispose of the maximum biodiversity, the samples come from:

.  All the In-Situ (in its habitat) Iberian lynx populations

.  All the captive breeding centers, including Portugal

.  Animals reintroduced into the wild

In addition, we have provided biological material to conduct relevant research, always leading to favor the conservation of such a species in its habitat. These investigations have been conducted in different institutions, including:

. Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche

. Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales

. Estación Biológica de Doñana

. Universidad de Córdoba

. Universidad Complutense de Madrid, etc
