First Cryo-Bank created in Spain to Preserve Alive the
Genetic Heritage from Endangered Animals

 

 

 It was later extended to

Biological and Genetic Resource Bank  

 

Created between 2002-2003 at the University Miguel Hernandez, it was decisive for the National Law (Law 42/2007 on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity) to contemplate and promote the creation of this kind of reserves in order to favour the conservation of threatened animal species

The genetic legacy must be passed onto future generations

 

. Each cell contains all the information reflecting the evolution of that species, its unique features.

 

Therefore:

 

Part of the cell samples of each species will not be used and it will be passed onto future generations.
